Regardless of how the domestic rotary drilling rig type is updated and how the rotary drilling rig capacity is increased, the author believes that: analyzing the structure and specifications of the steel wire rope randomly used when the rotary drilling rig was introduced is helpful for analyzing and understanding the original intention of the foreign designer and the selection of the steel wire rope The reason is helpful to promote the scientific development and selection of the steel wire rope structure, especially the steel wire rope for the main hoist of the rotary drilling rig.

2.1 German BG series rotary drill rig

The four-strand steel wire rope used to be the main steel wire rope used by rotary drilling rigs in domestic construction machinery backbone enterprises. Recently, the number of applications and the scope of the steel wire rope have decreased. The wire rope industry has a view that based on the fact that the four-strand steel wire rope is too few, it is prone to broken strands, and the safety of use is greatly threatened. It is believed that the four-strand steel wire rope should not be used for the rotary drilling rig.

According to the actual working conditions of the rotary drilling rig and the failure analysis of the steel wire rope, it is found that the steel wire rope is mostly replaced due to wear and fatigue broken wire. In order to comprehensively improve the performance and life of the steel wire rope, the tensile strength of the steel wire rope for the rotary drilling rig should not be too high. The focus is to increase the toughness index and improve the stability of the steel wire rope and the ability to resist impact load.
Whether steel wire rope filling and plastic coating will help to improve the physical quality level and actual service life of steel wire ropes. There are no domestic examples. It remains to be discussed by steel wire rope companies in cooperation with users.
